Then we have today’s helmetcam video of a skier getting caught in an avalanche while hitting the Alaskan backcountry. While we are incredibly stoked to see the footage, it is a very sobering experience to see someone caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can read the full account of the story here.

As the winter season approaches and the thrills of backcountry skiing/snowboarding appear on the horizon, use this video as a cautionary tale to safely slay those distant powder stashes. With the proper training, equipment (check the Avalung) and guides, the backcountry becomes a much safer place. This collaboration offers us two limited edition L-R-G designed styles of Oakley’s A Frame goggles. The limited edition L-R-G Oakley goggles are set to be released in stores later in 2009.

L-R-G will keep your eyes shielded this winter with Oakley’s legendary A Frame goggle, an innovative design that has become the benchmark for fit, comfort, and optical performance on the snow. Integrated surge ports provide controlled airflow to the F3-coated anti-fog inner lens and combine with the precision of High Definition Optics (HDO) for unbeatable clarity in just about any condition. The limited edition Purple L-R-G Oakley Goggle features L-R-G Interlocking Trees all-over printed on the frame and the L-R-G logo is laser-engraved on the lower corner of the Black Iridium® lens. Action sports eyewear ballers, anon Optics, has released their 2009 Summer sunglasses collection.

What makes anon’s collection especially unique is the variety of colors in each of the styles. anon Optics has released a few styles such as the Hombre and Contender in a “Blacked Out / Murdered Out” color where details are black on black. And black on black is how we roll.
