New Arnette Sunglasses for Fall 2009

Arnette announces the release of five new styles of sunglasses for Fall 2009. The Alter Ego, Agent, Defy, Snap and Wanted seamlessly fuse the best in contemporary street styling with the hard-charging, action sports lifestyle Arnette is rooted in.

All five frames, along with the rest of Arnette’s fashion-forward products, employ the highest-grade polycarbonate lenses available to block out 100% of harmful UV rays. Many styles are offered with polarized lens options, and all Arnette frames are constructed with either high-luster acetate or lightweight yet durable Grilamid nylon plastic.

Arnette Agent Sunglasses

T-Mobile Local Support BMX Street Challenge - Tretlagerhalle

On October 17, 2009 the best Pro and Am BMX riders of Germany will come together at the Tretlagerhalle in Emmering near Munich for the final of this year’s T-Mobile Local Support BMX Street Challenge contest series. The Tretlagerhalle is a playland for all riders: Several jump boxes, quarter-pipes, spines, wall rides and, most importantly, the T-Mobile Local Support Monster Box are waiting in the massive BMX park. For those who can’t get enough, there are some street obstacles, a bowl with hip and wooden trails, too.

This will be the third and final contest of the T-Mobile Local Support BMX contest series. After great contests in Mainz and Darmstadt, the third T-Mobile Local Support Challenge in 2009 ensures great action. In both Pro and Am classes, two riders team up to rack-up scores. The best Pro teams win € 4.000 for their home spot, a BBQ party, a video portrait at freedombmx.tv. The best AM team will win gear from Pro-tec and Cheap Yeah!.

For the best riders there’s even more to come: Tickets to ride at the Street Session of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds on December 6th, 2009 at the Velodrom in Berlin. The 3 best Pro riders and, thanks to the T-Mobile Wildcard, the best Amateur will have the chance to share the ramps with international BMX superstars and steal the show from last year’s winner Rob Darden.

X Games 3D Movie Review

Just for the sake of covering the most important detail first, this 3D experience is the real deal. If you have never seen a production using Disney’s Digital 3D technology, here is your excuse to check it out. While X Games 3D might eventually be released on DVD, the 3D experience is not going to happen in your living room (Translation - get yourself to a theater this weekend to see it).

In terms of the movie itself, there is a quandary for the action sports enthusiast - we already know happens. While I sat in awe of the presentation, I knew what was coming next and was almost mentally Tivo-ing past the gaps. That being said, the creators do a good job in re-packaging footage to create a real sense of drama for the Moto X Best Trick and Skateboard Big Air competitions. And while I am tempted to release spoilers, I will leave you with an axiom of action sports - sometimes the winner isn’t the champion.

While there might be some truth to the claim that the X Games 3D movie is little more than a 90 minute ESPN infomercial, it should also give you some perspective on how large action sports have become. The Summer X Games have been around for 15 years and the Winter X Games for 14 years. The Summer X Games are the biggest sports story and biggest sports production in the world for one weekend a year. Tony Hawk and Shaun White are household names. Skateparks are abundant in the United States. And now we have our own big budget 3D movie. Things have come a long way. Rejoice.

X Games 3D: The Movie Action Sports Movie

ESPN Productions rolls out the first 3D sports film ever by releasing X Games 3D: The Movie tonight. X Games 3D captures footage from Summer X Games 14 and Winter X Games 13. The movie captures a wide-variety of action sports including skateboarding, fmx, rally car and snowboarding.

X Games 3D: The Movie features Shaun White, Danny Way, Bob Burnquist, Ricky Carmichael, Kyle Loza and Travis Pastrana. The movie is narrated by Emile Hirsch.

The sixth-annual Tony Hawk RIDE Presents Stand Up for Skateparks benefit for the Tony Hawk Foundation returns to Beverly Hills, California on Sunday, October 11 and Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, November 7. This family-centric action-sports carnival has sold out every year, features a Vert Skateboarding and BMX demo with Tony Hawk and other top pro athletes, interactive games, activities, music, and our live and silent auctions—all to support the creation of public skateparks for youth in low-income communities.

How good is Jamie Bestwick? After winning X Games gold in BMX Vert in 2006 and 2007, he only needed two runs in the final to secure his 2009 X Games championship. While the crowd was amped on Jamie’s performance, they were equally scared after his hang-up on a big 540 tailwhip. After a few tense minutes, Jamie was able to collect himself and walk off of the ramp.

Simon Tabron claimed second as he threw a one-foot one-handed 900.
