SURFING

Stomp & Flow reader Brett alerted me to ESPN’s recent ‘Being’ video profile on Brazilian big wave charger and Red Bull professional surfer, Maya Gabeira. The Maya Gabeira video discusses her start in surfing at age 14, moving to the North Shore at 17 and going for it on the biggest waves at age 22. The video documents some of her big wave progression as we see her first attempts at towing-in to big Teahupoo (and eating it). But Maya is resilient and in quick fashion has reached the top of women’s big wave surfing.

As mentioned earlier this week, Maya recently towed-in to a monster at Dungeons in South Africa as she places an early bid to win the Billabong XXL Big Wave Award.
