The last stop of the 2009 Winter Dew Tour, The Toyota Championship at Northstar-at-Tahoe, went down last weekend in Truckee, CA. The Winter Dew Tour features the best men and women of skiing and snowboarding in slopestyle and superpipe. Being the final competition of the Winter Dew Tour, The Toyota Championship at Northstar-at-Tahoe not only awards the individual competitions but also crowns overall winners of the Winter Dew Tour.
The slopestyle course at Northstar broke down like this:
- Hit #1 - a down box or a down rail
- Hit #2 - a flat box or a cannon jib
- Hit #3 - a tabletop jump
- Hit #4 - a down-flat-down box or rail
- Hit #5 - a big jump
- Hit #6 - the money booter
I would love to tell you lots of interesting things about the Men’s snowboard slopestyle competition but NBC decided to broadcast about two and a half minutes of highlights instead of the full comp. Count me as one viewer who was not happy. AND to think that they gave the Men’s ski slopestyle event a full hour and a half of coverage!
In summary, Torstein Horgmo wins the event, Shaun White wins the Dew Cup for the overall Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle and Mikkel Bang got hurt.
