This week’s Music Monday selection is Blink 182’s Josie (iTunes) from their CD, Dude Ranch.
So why does an 11 year old video qualify for the Music Monday selection? Because it was filmed at my high school (Westlake High School in Westlake Village, CA).
So how does a pop punk band end up filming a video at a suburban Los Angeles high school? Oddly enough, the directors of the video are also Westlake High School alumni (Darren Doane and Ken Daurio).
But the biggest question is how does a struggling pop punk band end up getting Alyssa Milano to star in their video?

Oh, my God! I just heard about this video. I’m a WHS 1983 alumni. I haven’t been inside the school for 25 years, but I certainly recognize the cafeteria, the classrooms and remember those desks. How cool is it that Alyssa Milano is in a WHS cheerleader uniform!
It’s making me have flashbacks of forging my “sick” notes, hoping they fly, and sitting in class waiting for them to call me down to the office!

Oh, and Darren Doane, is that “Dino” Doane? I certainly recognize the name.

OMG! I just watched it again and had flashbacks of my mom dropping me off and me being totally embarrassed when she chased me with my lunch or lunch money. It was a 1981 Buick Skylark at a school where people were being dropped off in Lambhorginis. How humiliating!
