The 2011 X Games 17 Skateboard Big Air event went down on July 29th outside of Staples Center in the LA Live area of downtown Los Angeles, CA.
The regular Big Air heavies were in the house, including the repeat Gold medalist Jake Brown and the world’s greatest skateboarder (IMO) Bob Burnquist. But all the rage was super young buck, Mitchie Brusco. Mitchie is 14 years old, 5’1” and 95 pounds. Oh yeah, he also lands 900s on the quarter pipe.
After all of the competitors took their five runs, Brazilian Bob Burnquist proudly claimed the 2011 X Games Skateboard Big Air gold with a switch 540 flat spin over the gap and then lien rodeo 540 on the quarter pipe. It should also be noted that Burnquist’s first run offered a switch backside ollie over the gap to a lein rodeo 540. Burnquist was the only rider to complete two full runs.
